VON LUSCHAN SERIES

Felix von Luschan’s chromatic scale (used pre-1950s to determine race using thirty-six unique colors) gives a color-language to present and question race. Like the skin these paintings imply, textures and thicknesses will crack, dissipate, or darken over the life of the work. Each piece in this series is 16" inches or smaller, sized to be face to face with the viewer, a reflection of identity both mirrored and forced upon.
